Devotional: Only God Is Worthy
Scripture:
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!”
—Revelation 5:12
—Revelation 5:12
When we strip away everything else — every worry, every fear, every uncertainty — what remains is the unshakeable truth that God alone is worthy.
People see our outward life, our choices, our struggles, our avatar. But beneath all of that is the deeper reality:
a spirit made to behold God.
We were created for worship.
Not because God is needy —
but because our souls come alive in His presence.
but because our souls come alive in His presence.
And when we lift up the name of Jesus, we join a chorus older than creation itself:
Jesus, the Lamb of God,
slain from the foundation of the world,
the One whose sacrifice cleanses, frees, and restores.
When we declare:
God is love — we proclaim His heart.
God is good — we proclaim His character.
God is glory — we proclaim His worth.
God is sovereign — we proclaim His rule over all things, including our stories.
Praise is not something we give God because our lives are peaceful.
Praise is something we give God because He is God, and He remains worthy in every season of life, especially the confusing ones.
As we wait for answers — from circumstances, from life — remember this:
We are not waiting alone.
We are waiting with the One who holds all authority in heaven and on earth.
And the Lamb who was slain is the Shepherd who leads our steps.
Take a breath and say slowly:
“My spirit belongs to God.
My life is in His hands.
And He will not fail me.”
Let that truth settle deeper than anxiety, deeper than confusion, deeper than the noise around you.
A Prayer
"Father, You alone are worthy.
You alone are God.
I lift my praises to You, not because my circumstances are simple,
but because Your mercy and power are greater than anything I face.
Jesus, Lamb of God,
thank You for bearing my sins,
for rescuing my soul,
for loving me before the world began.
Holy Spirit,
steady my heart today.
Let Your peace govern my thoughts.
Let Your presence quiet every fear.
Lead me in Your way,
hold me in Your hands,
and keep me surrendered to Your will.
God, You are love.
You are good.
You are glory.
You are sovereign.
And I trust You."
Amen.
